I had the same old manual embossing label maker for approximately 20 years before it finally bit the dust. It was similar to this but red, and I haven't been able to find an exact picture online. I remember my dad buying it for me as a present once when I was little, and I spent hours labeling anything and everything. Years later I remember spending a seventh-grade study hall session using it to create hair clips and necklaces ala an article I'd spotted in Seventeen magazine.
Recently I decided I wanted a new label maker to label all my spice tins and other items. I could have ordered one online, but because I'm sometimes impulsive, I decided I needed it at that moment, and went to the local Office Max. I couldn't find anything like my old battery-free, non-electronic label maker, which saddened me, but I decided to pick up a Brother P-touch label maker instead. It's not quite the same as my old click-y red label maker, but I've been having a lot of fun with it none the less. I've been on a labeling spree. I need to buy some fun new colors of tape now. Of course, I'm also still considering ordering one of the old-style embossed labelers too...
